George Boughey’s STROBELIGHT looks primed to shed his maiden tag at the ninth attempt when lining up in this low-grade mile handicap. The three-year-old caught the eye on his latest start at Wolverhampton, finishing a close third after enduring a wide trip throughout in a run that can easily be marked up given how the race unfolded. That was his first try at this trip since being gelded and with a tongue-tie applied for the first time, he now looks ready to build on that effort.
Billy Loughnane keeps the ride and that combination alone commands respect at this level. The son of Showcasing remains on the same mark of 56, which looks lenient based on his Wolverhampton run and Lingfield’s tighter circuit should suit his handy racing style. Boughey’s string continue to fire on the all-weather and this race looks a good opportunity for Strobelight to finally convert consistency into victory.
Chief danger is Borderline Madness, who has won twice over similar trips and thrives in these conditions, but he may have reached his ceiling after another 2lbs rise. Hot Shot Lawyer is improving, though he faces a stronger field than at Kempton, while Princess Mia and Arf’s Duchess need to bounce back from lesser efforts.
With conditions in his favour, a more economical trip likely from stall 6 and the promise of more to come under today’s aids, STROBELIGHT is confidently selected as Monday’s NAP of the day to light up Lingfield.
