MISSMIMI - 4/1
Five-year-old MISSMIMI has enjoyed a fine campaign, landing a pair of competitive sprints at Pontefract and confirming she remains in top form when finishing a strong second at the same track earlier this month. She was unlucky not to add to her tally that day, repeatedly short of room before flying home late behind a progressive three-year-old.
That run suggested she’s still improving despite a busy summer and the return to a flatter, more galloping track at Redcar should really play to her strengths. She’s also proven versatile with regard to ground conditions, having scored on both good and soft and the fact she runs from the same mark of 56 makes her look very well treated in this company. Billy Garritty knows her well and retains the ride, which adds further confidence.
The main dangers look to be Dream Deal, who has thrived since blinkers were applied and Showtime Mahomes, a seasoned six-time winner who often runs well at this level. Flowstate can also feature if rediscovering his Ripon form, while Winter Crown lurks on a dangerous mark. But all things considered, Missmimi’s recent performances mark her out as the one to beat; she arrives in form, handles any surface and meets rivals who either have questions to answer or need to bounce back.
Tough, consistent, and still fairly weighted, Missmimi is fancied to go one better than at Pontefract and can deliver again here. A confident choice as Friday’s NAP of the day.
