TRILBY - 15/2
York is unforgiving if you miss the break, so TRILBY did well to finish as close as he did after a slow start and poor track position at the Dante meeting. Despite ranking 15th of 17 in early speed, he was only beaten 3¾ lengths by a Group-class rival. With a strong course record and better conditions expected this time, he looks a serious contender. King’s Lynn has claims too, but his price feels short given his long losing run.

BOBBY BENNU - 11/2
Silvestre De Sousa and Roger Varian are always a combination to note, and BOBBY BENNU is an interesting runner here. The Middleham Park-owned four-year-old has won over course and distance and returns from a 145-day break after a solid effort at Wolverhampton. With a Wokingham entry, a win and penalty might be the aim. Three wins from eight starts suggest there’s talent worth an each-way look with four places on offer.

BOX TO BOX - 5/1
BOX TO BOX is a Chester specialist with a strong course record and looks well treated off a mark of 84, 4lb below his last win. He wasn’t seen to best effect from a wide draw last time but has solid form at higher levels, including two narrow defeats here last season. Back at his favourite track and down in class, he’s one to note under Silvestre De Sousa.

SUENO - 3/1
SUENO may have a bit to find on form, but she’s unexposed after just three runs and caught the eye behind Scenic at Goodwood when short of room in a muddling race. With that run under her belt, a step up in trip, and Ryan Moore booked, she looks open to plenty of improvement and could take a big step forward.

ALYANAABIAI - 7/2
A strong pace looks certain, which could suit closers like Spycatcher, but ALYANAABIAI stands out. He impressed over course and distance on his return, having been gelded and dropped back in trip. A top-class juvenile, his recent win hinted at a resurgence and there’s every reason to think he’s still improving.
