Barry Hill heads in to the weekend with a couple of strongly fancied tips. Ideal for a big double!!!
3.50 SANDOWN
Tom Jones At Sandown Park 30 July Handicap
MOONJID - 6/1
MOONJID ran with promise on seasonal and handicap debut at Sandown, backed from 16/1 into 11s. He travelled well and looked a real danger before being hampered by the eventual runner-up, losing momentum and finishing sixth.
The bare result doesn’t tell the full story, and he’s worth marking up for that run. Back at Sandown and stepped up to 1m2f off the same mark of 73, he looks a strong contender to go closer this time.
2.40 SANDOWN
ANDALEEP - 7/1
Given his strong course-and-distance record, it’s a little surprising ANDALEEP hasn’t been back to Sandown since September.
In 11 runs here, he’s won four and placed three times, and while those came off lower marks, he’s shown he can still be competitive at this level. After a quiet return, he’s posted solid efforts in a Class 2 on Good Friday and when third at Newmarket last time, a track he doesn’t usually shine at.
Back at his favoured venue and with fast ground in his favour, he looks primed to go well again.
