Siobhan Mullins - Cheltenham Outsiders
Siobhan Mullins returns with three great price each way bets for Day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival.
2.40 CHELTENHAM
McCoy Contractors Juvenile Handicap Hurdle (Premier Handicap) (Registered As The Fred Winter) (GBB)
THE MIGHTY CELT - 18/1 (E/W)
THE MIGHTY CELT looks an interesting runner for Dan Skelton on his second start since wind surgery. A smart performer in France, he showed plenty of ability in Listed and Grade Two company before joining his current yard. He caught the eye when staying on for third at Haydock after a break and, from a mark of 131, looks capable of stepping forward again against this opposition.
3.20 CHELTENHAM
Trustmarque Ultima Handicap Chase (Premier Handicap) (GBB Race)
KONFUSION - 20/1 (E/W)
KONFUSION looks a solid each way option in the Ultima Handicap Chase for Sue Smith and Joel Parkinson. The eight year old has progressed markedly this season, rising sharply in the handicap after winning both the Rehearsal Chase and the Rowland Meyrick. He ran well again when fourth in the Peter Marsh at Haydock and lines up here off the same mark of 145. A fluent jumper who races prominently, he has the profile to give himself every chance in this demanding handicap.
4.00 CHELTENHAM
Unibet Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy (Grade 1) (GBB Race)
PONIROS - 16/1 (E/W)
PONIROS could be the value angle in this year’s Champion Hurdle. Last season’s shock Triumph Hurdle winner remains lightly raced over hurdles and still has plenty of untapped potential. His run behind Brighterdaysahead and Lossiemouth at the Dublin Racing Festival looked more like a prep than a true test, and with a strong gallop likely he should be able to settle off the pace and finish strongly. Proven at Cheltenham and still open to improvement, he looks capable of another big Festival performance.
