The Tina Jackson-trained mare Missmimi has been a model of reliability this season, winning twice and hitting the frame on several other occasions, including a close third over this same course and distance just 18 days ago. That run came on good ground and the slower conditions forecast today should play perfectly to her strengths.
All three of Missmimi’s career wins have come on stiffer, more testing tracks and with Redcar’s surface expected to ride softer than last time, she looks ideally placed to make her stamina count late on. She travelled smoothly and finished her race off strongly in that latest C&D effort, suggesting she’s still in peak form. With Warren Fentiman back on board and her mark remaining unchanged at 57, she holds a solid chance of regaining the winning thread.
Main danger Giselles Izzy escapes a penalty for her C&D victory last week and must be respected, while top weight Carlton And Co is capable of bouncing back if getting a clearer passage than she did at Wolverhampton. Chief Of State has shown improved form of late but still looks better suited to five furlongs, while Kyber Crystal faces a stiff task stepping back up in trip.
Verdict: With consistency, conditions and a touch of class all in her favour, MISSMIMI is fancied to outstay her rivals and notch a deserved fourth career success. A confident pick as Tuesday’s NAP of the day.
