Newcastle United head to Villa Park on Saturday full of confidence thanks to Wednesday night’s 5-0 demolition of in-form Crystal Palace. The Magpies are now up to third in the Premier League table thanks to five straight league wins. Eddie Howe’s side are the third highest scorers in the Premier League behind Liverpool and Manchester City and in the race for Champions League qualification The Magpies hold a five-point lead over Chelsea in sixth with 59 points from 32 matches.
Aston Villa v Newcastle United: Head-to-Head
Newcastle United have had the upper hand in recent meetings between these two clubs. The Magpies have won five of their last six contests against Saturday’s hosts. This season’s reverse fixture at St James’ Park produced a comfortable 3-0 win for Newcastle United thanks to goals from Anthony Gordon, Alexander Isak and Joelinton.
The Magpies also hit three in the corresponding fixture at Villa Park last season as a Fabian Schar brace helped guide Eddie Howe’s side to a 3-1 win in January 2024. That win was Newcastle United’s first away win at Aston Villa since September 2013.
